Be a part of the ONPAR innovative project to provide accessible assessment for ELLs. The first field test of the science 4th grade items will be trialed this fall with 5th grade students, and we hope that your school is able to participate.

Cognitive Labs:
Individual interviews held in the schools by ONPAR staff to effectively inform the development of the math and science items.

Controlled Studies:
ONPAR Science items were trialed in controlled studies at three grades (5th, 8th and 9th ) between May and December 2008. Native English speakers and ELL students whose native language is Spanish or Korean were included in the trial. The controlled studies provided quantitative data to be used to compare accessibility between language groups for ONPAR and traditional forms. Student test results were analyzed, controlling for science and English proficiency.

Field tests:
School-wide tests, including a tutorial to introduce the help features and item types, followed by approximately 30 science questions.

ONPAR Math will not be tested until late 2009. Please check back later for information on participating in those trials.
